How is it different from the regular antenatal classes?

- It offers you access to multiple consultants who can offer their specific advice on challenges you are experiencing, rather than impartial general advice.

- They can answer your burning questions ad hoc, during the session, or after the session in a Blog.

- You get to share your experience with a wider community of new parents and learn from each other.

- You build an international tribe of mums for support, banter and sense of belonging.

Testimonials

I don't think I need a therapy. I just want someone to listen. People around me are busy and their own life to deal with. The app is very cheap, effective and gives you access to multiple tools within your mobile handset.

Steve, 32, Motorsport Blogger

Doing a writing exercise in a group of people I don’t know well made me feel vulnerable, triggered. But, when I write I find it helpful. I realise I have a lot to say, I am wowed to realise that there is actually so much to say. I realise I don’t want to acknowledge that there is a lot going on in my life right now. It’s scary. Writing in my phone definitely makes me feel more secure and comfortable.

Gloria, 38, A new mum

I feel guilty to constantly complain to people although I am good at sharing my feelings. Talking to people who are not related to me reduces that guilt, gives me reassurance that it is normal to feel overwhelmed and allows me to spell out my problems without worrying my friends and family.

Kate, 28, Finance Assistant

Areas where Say Anything App comes particularly useful:

Abuse
When you go through something you find traumatic it's understandable to experience some symptoms associated with PTSD afterward, such as feeling numb or having trouble sleeping. When your mind is not letting you rest, you can try to articulate how you feel. Write it down and send it away. You should feel a sense of relief as a result.

Addictions
Addiction is often linked to mental health problems. If you have an addiction problem it may have started as a way to cope with feelings that you felt unable to deal with in any other way. You also might be a family member or a friend of the addicted person. This tool can help you all in tackling the difficult times and hopefully get a better understanding of your thoughts and feelings

 bereavement
Bereavement is a puzzle as people tread gingerly around us, waiting for this delicate and intangible time to finish. But this is not an option for us – our lives and family dynamics have changed irreversibly. there is the irony of feeling responsible for not making others uncomfortable or uneasy. This app gives an opportunity for grieving people to tell their story as often as they need and acquire the vocabulary to express their grief without having to worry about how it affects others.

bullying

The association between bullying and mental health can have a vicious circle, where people who are already vulnerable and at-risk may suffer further at the hands of their peers, thus worsening their outcomes and the likelihood of experiencing more severe mental health issues.

Four key mental health outcomes of bullying are depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and self-harm and suicide.

crises

We all face minor or major crises at some point in our lives. Sometimes they can leave us very unsettled and troubled, sometimes they are so severe that we don't even realise when they have started to affect our mental wellbeing. Talking to others can help you to gain control back.

disabilities

Having a disability can often make you feel lonely, different, isolated. The online community will not judge you but can offer support that you need.

domestic violence

Domestic violence occurs when a person uses physical violence, coercion, threats, intimidation, isolation, stalkingemotional abuse, sexual abuse or economic abuse to control another partner in a relationship. Domestic violence can be a single act or a pattern of behavior in relationships, which encompass dating, marriage, family and roommate relationships. People who are abused may face additional isolation and fear due to social attitudes toward gender roles and/or sexual orientation.

eating disorder

Eating problems are not just about food. They can be about difficult things and painful feelings, which you may be finding hard to express, face or resolve. Lots of people with eating problems also have other mental health problems, such as depressionanxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorders. Food is one of many mediums through which anxiety, depression or obsessive-compulsive behaviours can be expressed.

fertility

Infertility affects men and women almost equally. For about 40% of couples who are finding it hard to conceive, both partners have some kind of fertility issue. It’s important to remember that fertility problems are no one’s "fault". When you're desperate to find a reason for your struggles, it can be easy to fall into the trap of blaming yourself or your partner. Instead, try to think of this as a problem that affects you both, and one which you can overcome together.

harassment

Harassment and bullying remain significant issues despite increasing awareness of the problem. There are many typical harassment and bullying behaviours, from unwanted physical contact and shouting to unwelcome remarks and persistent unwarranted criticism. Recipients of these behaviours are more likely to experience anxiety.

isolation
Research shows that loneliness and social isolation are harmful to our health: lacking social connections is a comparable risk factor for early death as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, and is worse for us than well-known risk factors such as obesity and physical inactivity.

LONELINESS
Loneliness puts individuals at greater risk of cognitive decline (James et al, 2011). One study concludes lonely people have a 64% increased chance of developing clinical dementia (Holwerda et al, 2012). Lonely individuals are more prone to depression (Cacioppo et al, 2006) (Green et al, 1992). Loneliness and low social interaction are predictive of suicide in older age (O’Connell et al, 2004)

Money
Worrying about money can make your mental health worse and poor mental health can make managing money harder. We can’t stop you from worrying or improve your financial situation, but when you start sharing your worries without worrying others your situation can become more manageable.

 Mental health
We all have times when we have low mental wellbeing – when we feel sad or stressed, find it difficult to cope. Sometimes even there is no clear reason why we experience a period of poor mental health. Sometimes, we just need an opportunity to talk about our feelings without the fear of being judged and taken responsibility for how we feel. We hope that with our app you can make at least some of those low days a little easier and happier. We want to make you feel that you are not alone.

medical conditions

For millions of people, chronic illnesses and depression are facts of life. A chronic illness is a condition that lasts for a very long time and usually cannot be cured completely, although some illnesses can be controlled or managed through lifestyle (diet and exercise) and certain medications. Examples of chronic illnesses include diabetesheart diseasearthritiskidney diseaseHIV/AIDS, lupus, and multiple sclerosis.

Many people with these illnesses become depressed. In fact, depression is one of the most common complications of chronic illness. It's estimated that up to one-third of people with a serious medical condition have symptoms of depression.

pregnancy

It's common for women to experience mental ill-health for the first time in pregnancy. Women may feel more vulnerable and anxious, and some may develop depression.

If you have had severe mental ill-health in the past, or have it now, you're more likely to become ill during pregnancy or in the year after giving birth than at other times in your life. Severe mental ill-health includes bipolar affective disorder, severe depression, and psychosis.

Some women with a history of severe mental illness remain well during pregnancy – everyone is different, with triggers for becoming unwell. It's useful to have an outlet for these situations.

Public service providers
Emergency services personnel are more likely to experience a mental health problem than the general workforce, but you are less likely to take time off work as a result. Having a mobile app gives you immediate access to a powerful tool to offload that tension.

Parenting
Some days the day-to-day challenges of parenting feel harder. For example, anxiety may make you more easily worried, or depression may mean that you have low energy. Tiredness can make you less patient, or isolation can make you feel lonely. Parenting is the hardest job you will ever do yet you get a very little reward. It is just continuously exhausting physically and mentally. When you had that hard day or a happy day. When your feelings become overwhelming, just let it go. Use the app to get a little break, breath and give you strength.

Relationship issues

Strong and healthy relationships have the potential to help us cope with the symptoms of depression - and, in some circumstances, can be a big influence on whether a person becomes depressed.

They give us a support network – people to talk to and loved ones we can rely on when things are difficult. They can help us to maintain perspective and just generally feel less alone. ONS figures on what matters most to our wellbeing show that relationships with friends and family are joint-top of the list (89%).

Conversely, evidence suggests that people in troubled relationships are three times as likely to experience depression as those who aren’t. Unhappy or unsupportive relationships are a risk factor for depression. Some studies have found that over 60% of those with depression consider relationship problems to be the main cause of their illness.

secrets

It can be hard to keep a secret. It can feel like a burden and become very overwhelming. Having a secure space to vent out and share your difficult feelings can take that heavy weight off your shoulders.

sex

It could be that people who feel healthier have more sex, but there seems to be a link between sexual activity and your sense of wellbeing.

A study of 3,000 Americans aged 57-85 showed that those who were having sex rated their general health higher than those who weren't.

And it's not just sex – it's love, too. People who were in a close relationship or married were more likely to say they felt in "very good" or "excellent" health than just "good" or "poor".

It seems that emotional and social support can boost our sense of wellbeing. Equally a lack of sex can cause emotional distress.

Stress
Being under pressure is a normal part of life. It can help you take action, feel more energised and get results. But if you often become overwhelmed by stress, these feelings could start to be a problem for you. Writing about what triggers your stressful feeling can allow you to stay in control.

Student life
Coping with new challenges and social expectations can have an impact on your mental health, but you can make your time as a student easier and more enjoyable. Share your challenges and insecurities. They might look not as scary as they felt.

work life

Unfortunately, you might find work can has a negative impact on your mental health. This could be because of:

  • workplace stress
  • poor relations with your colleagues
  • the type of work you're doing
  • experiencing stigma, or being treated unfairly because of your mental health problem
  • being unsure whether to tell your boss and colleagues about your mental health problem
  • worrying about returning to work after a period of poor mental health

While the Services may provide access to certain general medical information, the Services cannot and are not intended to provide medical advice. We advise you to always seek the help of a physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions regarding your health or medical conditions. Never disregard, avoid, or delay in obtaining medical advice from your doctor or other qualified healthcare providers because of something you have read on the Services. If you have or suspect that you have a medical problem or condition, please contact a qualified health care professional immediately.

You acknowledge that, although individuals in the medical profession may provide some of the Content that is provided to you on the Services (including information provided in our Podcast interviews), the provision of such information does not create a medical professional-patient relationship, and does not constitute an opinion, medical advice, or diagnosis or treatment of any particular condition, but is provided to assist you in completing your self-help program.

No licensed medical professional-patient relationship is created by using information and/or services provided by or through the use of the Services or through any other communications from us. The content of the Services is not and should not be considered medical advice or a substitute for individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Do not disregard, avoid or delay obtaining medical advice from a qualified health care professional because of something you may have read on the site. You should always talk to your medical professionals for diagnosis and treatment. Do not use the Services for emergency medical needs. If you experience a medical emergency, call 911. Your use of information provided on the Services is solely at your own risk. Nothing stated, posted or available on the Services is intended to be, and must not be taken to be, the practice of medicine or the provision of medical care.

CHANGE OF SERVICE

We are always trying to improve the Services and they may change over time. We may suspend or discontinue any part of the Services, or we may introduce new features or impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts or all of the Services. We will try to give you notice when we make a material change to the Services that would adversely affect you, but this isn’t always practical. Similarly, we reserve the right to remove any Content from the Services at any time, for any reason (including, but not limited to, if someone alleges you contributed that Content in violation of these Terms), in our sole discretion, and without notice.

CHANGE OF TERMS

These Terms may need to change along with the Services as they evolve. We reserve the right to change the Terms at any time, but if we do, we will bring it to your attention by placing a notice on the https://Say Anything.ai/ website, and/or by sending you an email and/or by some other means.

Except for changes by us as described here, no other amendment or modification of these Terms will be effective unless in writing and signed by both you and us.

What is the Rainbow Programme?

It is a Journey from Overwhelm to Love - Selflove

Does it sound ‘trivial’ and awkward? Probably yes. This is because you most likely don’t think that you should love yourself and that it is ‘wrong’ to love yourself.

The author of ‘Happy Parents Happy Kids’ says “You may at times make mistakes, become overwhelmed or lose your temper. What is important, however, is to make a wholehearted effort. Children grow up watching their parents. It is not the parent’s words that children hear. No matter what wonderful things parents may say, if their words are not accompanied by action, children will never listen. Children’s lives will be determined by how parents live.”
